The Three Peaks Challenge – in which participants scale the highest mountains in Scotland, Wales and England in the space of 24 hours – is one of the most gruelling fundraising efforts you can undertake. So it was a natural place for Nicole Witts and her team to start their fundraising drive:
5 team members did this gruelling challenge on my behalf – my husband Gary Witts, brother-in-law Steve Rock and our friends Matthew Piercy, Alan Carter and Keren Millea. They were in a team of 8 and accompanying them was our friend Creighton Varney who was the designated driver!
They started Ben Nevis at 5pm on Sunday 6th July and were down by 10.20.. just 20 mins later then the planned time.
Then came Scafell Pike.. (Oh dear.) Started at 4.50 am. Extremely heavy rain and fog/mist made visibility really poor..and the team got a fraction lost. This was tricky, but after 3 hours they were back on track. By this time Gary (Gary Witts, Nicole’s husband) had hurt his knee and was limping.. they came down at 11.20am.
Lastly Snowdon at 5pm – back down at 10pm to end the walk. Very sore, achey joints, a few blisters and hubbie with a limp. Everyone suffering from severe tiredness but really happy to have achieved it as a team.
